Ferme la machine
Ferme la Machine is entering it’s third season of successful CSA/market gardening. We are strongly influenced by the principles of permaculture and the practices of regenerative agriculture in the production of great, wholesome food! Curtis and Marie-france are also committed to helping others start up successful, ethical businesses by leveraging our backgrounds in operations management, education and marketing.
Together Curtis and Marie-france have a deep and varied base of knowledge that we are looking to share with new farmers who may be interested in exploring the possibility of starting their own ethical businesses.
Interns will have the opportunity to participate in and learn all aspects of the operations of our farm businesses, from production planning and preserving the harvest, marketing, sales and distribution in exchange for your work gaining hands-on experience setting up infrastructure and tending to both animal and vegetable production on our farm.
Our 2017 season farm activities include:
On-farm events
On-farm store
Permaculture orchard
Pigs in forest
Market garden
Farmstead CSA
Pastured broiler chickens
Mushrooms in the woods
Pastured laying hens
Interns must :
Commit to a minimum 3-month work exchange
- We are willing to accept couples that are both interested in positions
- Be in good physical shape
- Work week is 5 days with hours varying with the seasonal needs of the farm
- *Persons with previous experience may be eligible for a weekly stipend
Ideal apprentices:
Have a strong interest in and knowledge of Permaculture, Regenerative agriculture, bio-intensive farming
Are self-motivated, have and demonstrate entrepreneurial drive, are interested in all aspects of ethical farming
Experienced or not, we’re looking for passion and positivity
Have a passion for great food
Have a driver’s license and access to a vehicle
